  Banana Chocolate Strudel

To make an impressive dessert on special occasions, this is a tasty treat. To reduce the fat, use filo pastry.

Unlike many desserts, this one is not too heavy. A good choice for active children and teenagers.

Cooking time: 25 minutes

4 lady finger bananas
11/2 tablespoons finely chopped crystallized ginger (optional)
50g dark chocolate, finely chopped
2 sheets frozen puff pastry
Melted butter or a beaten egg

Remove pastry from freezer to thaw and preheat oven to 200°C. Peel and chop bananas and mix with ginger and chocolate. Cut pastry sheets in half and place one quarter of the mixture along the centre of each piece. Roll up, pinching the ends. Brush pastry with melted butter or egg.

Place on a baking sheet lined with silicon paper and bake in pre-heated oven for 20-25 minutes or until pastry is golden.

Serve with low fat ice cream.
